Description

We begin and finish the experience in La Boca Neighborhood. We’ll visit the harbor, warehouses and its picturesque train station where large numbers of immigrants arrive. We’ll get inside a corrugated metal clad “conventillo” (tenement houses) that used to provide shelter to immigrants and today hosts a Cultural Centre. We’ll visit one of the many Mutual Assistance Associations: The Volunteer Fire Department, the first in all Argentina. We’ll also get a grasp of the art of Boca through its large murals reflecting different social issues. We’ll observe some old buildings that hosted anarchist newspapers and bordellos in the early 20th century, and also, two local icons: football (Boca Juniors Stadium, form outside) and Religion (The Salesian Church), which worked as refuges for these rootless communities. At last we’ll visit Caminito to find Tango and Fileteado in every corner. We finish with a coffee in a Notable Cafe. We can visit the mythical Museum of Fine Arts of La Boca, part of the building was the home of Benito Quinquela Martin
