Description
Live the excitement of walking on the Perito Moreno Glacier, one of the most impressive natural wonders in Argentine Patagonia. Our excursion begins in El Calafate, where we pick up passengers in comfortable buses. During the trip to Los Glaciares National Park, our expert guides will provide you with all the information about the region, the glacier and the details of the adventure you are about to live. Once at the port “Bajo de las Sombras”, just 70 km from El Calafate, you will embark on a 20-minute journey crossing the beautiful Lago Rico. On this tour you will be able to admire the majestic south face of the Perito Moreno Glacier, a view that will leave you breathless! Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our mountain guides, who will accompany you to a cozy shelter with a spectacular view of the glacier. From there, the exciting trekking begins. First, a walk along the coast of the lake, with the possibility of witnessing impressive ice falls. Our guides will give you an introductory talk about glaciology so that you can better understand this natural phenomenon. Walk on the Perito Moreno Glacier When you reach the edge of the glacier, you will prepare yourself with crampons and a helmet to start trekking on the ice. With small subgroups (maximum 20 people per guide), you will receive safety instructions before beginning to explore the surprising formations of the glacier: deep crevasses, sinkholes, seracs and the beautiful turquoise lagoons. This walk on the ice, with moderate difficulty, will allow you to experience the immensity of the glacier in first person. The walk is completed with a tour of the periglacial zone and the lateral moraine, where you will enjoy a panoramic view of the majestic ice walls, Lake Argentino and the Andean mountains. Three hours of adventure between ice, forest and mountains At the end of the ice trekking, we will return along a path that crosses the lush Patagonian Andean forest, to complete the three-hour walk. When you arrive back at the shelter, a hot drink and a souvenir will be waiting for you to remember this unforgettable experience. Shortly after, you will board back to Puerto Bajo de las Sombras, with one last panoramic view from the boat. Includes visit to the walkways of the Perito Moreno Glacier In addition to trekking, this excursion allows you to enjoy a one-hour tour of the famous walkways of the Perito Moreno Glacier, just 7 km from the port.
