Tango en el Conventillo to the rhythm of 2x4, takes place in a place that was once a mansion and then a conventillo. In the epicenter of the historic neighborhood of San Telmo in Buenos Aires, ¨Tango en el Conventillo 2x4 ' does not take place in a set or scenery but in the living room and patios of an old house that was the mansion of a family of the incipient aristocracy of Buenos Aires and then tenement or conventillo, a house that has exactly the same age as the tango that was born at the same time, among the popular classes, with the fusion of Afro-American, Creole and European contributions. The living conditions of its common housing stage, were very different from its conventillo stage with the 33 families of different nationalities that inhabited it, with their different languages, trades and customs. Everything is kept in the memory of this house, the only one in Buenos Aires that preserves its architecture with aristocratic airs, Italianate style, mixed with the energy of the conventillo. This show pays homage to the 'conventillo' that was the first home of tango dancing, tango song and the small groups that began to interpret it, they are the ones who generated through its diffusion, the porteño being. This porteño identity lives in these patios, which tango has been able to embrace through dance and music, present in celebrations and festivities. Our show goes through some stages of the city music and its dance, so important and known worldwide.
